Kampala, Uganda – March 28, 2026 – After weeks on the run, Moses Anguyo, the Ugandan prison warder wanted for the deadly Kiboga Central Prison shooting, has been arrested in Aru, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Anguyo had been evading authorities since February 23, 2026, when he allegedly opened fire during a routine inspection at the prison, killing several senior officers and civilians, including a mother and her child. The incident shocked the nation and prompted a nationwide manhunt.
The Uganda Prisons Service had offered a UGX 10 million reward for information leading to his capture. Joint efforts between Ugandan and DR Congo security forces finally led to his arrest, and authorities are now preparing to extradite him back to Uganda to face charges.
